Penegakan tanggung jawab pelaku usaha dalam hukum perlindungan konsumen

The economic development in globalization era must be able to support the growth of business and industry that can make a variety of goods and services for improving public welfare as well as getting the assurance of both products and services obtained from trading with no any loss for the consumers. The process of economy globalization will widen the activity flow of goods and service going in and out the state territories. In one side, this is very advantageous for the consumer for they are free in choosing needed goods and services, there are many alternatives of offerings: but on the other, the consumer will be the objects of business activities by the businessmen in the effort of getting profit as much as they can. Therefore, it is necessary to establish yhe businessmen attitude of being responsible for the quality assurance, quantity and security of the products and services they marketed. With the prevalance of the act no. 8 year 1999 of consumers protection (UUPK) on April 20, 1999 and launched since April 20, 2000. It is ecpected that the consumersÂ’ interests are protected in integrative and comprehensive manners and this act can be implemented effectively so that it can result in healthy and dynamic economy climate. UUPK has long been waited by public since legal convention protecting the consumers interests in Indonesia has not been satisfying yet so far. In UUPK, it is ruled in detail the responsibility of businessmen concerning their obligations, banned activities not to be done by them, the convention of labeling standard clauses and the charge of giving compensation for the consumers. It is expected by this act the businessmen will be more careful in producing goods and services and assure their quality products and improve quality standard. If all this responsibilities are satisfied, the consumers will experience being save, comfortable and protected and they will than keep their trust to the businessmen.
