Partisipatori masyarakat dalam pengelolaan sampah di Daerah Bantaran sungai Brantas kota Malang

Disposing of waste into the river is one of the causes of decline in environmental quality, especially soil and water, because in addition to decrease in terms of aesthetics, waste containing hazardous materials as sources of pollution. The location of areas of steep and narrow access road, causing facilities waste management is not reached, another obstacle that triggered the increasing number of waste dumped into the river particularly in rural riverbank. This study aimed to increase public participation in environmental management, especially flood plains communities in the region in terms of waste management. Inclusion community (participatory)are the rights of people who will direct the development programs in accordance with the wishes of the community. Inclusion community will increase the obligations and responsibilitiens to communities to implement development programs. Investment in the community through counseling and training on waste management. The result of activities on the ground indicate that the participatory/ community participation in implementation of activities is very important because the community is the object of and active participant in suporting the passage of events. This is shown by local residents in providing a positive appreciation by following the counseling and training on waste management to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
