The purpose of the research is to validate the water tariff/floor price of water stated byregent, Barito Selatan, law and also its impact on the operational profit/lose per M3 sold. The data of the study were collected through the technique of documentation. The data were analyzed by using computation of water tariff/floor price of water. The result of the study indicate that the losssuffered by the municipal waterworks is due to: (1) low foor price of water. It means that the water price regulated by the regent (2000, 2002, and 2004) was lower than the real floor price of water (2000-2004); (2) high operational cost and high loss of water where over the tolerance limit determinated by government, namely 20%. In order to overcome the loss, some efforts to be done are firstly, improve the income by having more customers, adjusting the tariff; and secondly, improve the cost efficiency by cost control and reduce the loss of water.
